PGA Museum of Golf Speaker Series to debut with Dr. Gary Wiren

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Dr. Gary Wiren, a member of the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame, PGA Master Professional and a leading authority on the history of the game of golf, will be the first presenter when the PGA Museum of Golf Speaker Series is launched on Feb. 3, at the PGA Museum of Golf, at PGA Village, in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Wiren will speak from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Probst Library located within the newly renamed PGA Museum of Golf, located off Exit 121 (St. Lucie West) off of Interstate 95. Wiren will cover a wide range of topics related to golf history and will answer questions from the audience. Admission is complimentary and Dr. Wiren will provide each audience member with a complimentary copy of the award-winning DVD, "The Fascinating World of Golf."
Wiren, who has a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, has written or participated in the writing of more than 200 magazine articles and 11 books. He has taught – privately, in groups, at seminars and with stage performances – more than 250,000 people in 34 countries. Wiren also is a three-time national winner of the Golf Collectors' Society wooden-shafted tournament and one of its premier collectors.

Throughout 2011, The PGA of America is celebrating its 95th anniversary, and PGA Village is celebrating its 15th anniversary, with special activities such as the PGA Museum of Golf Speaker Series, which will continue with world renowned sports and travel author Dr. Harvey Frommer, who will conduct a book signing and discussion on March 17.
The change in name from the PGA Historical Center to the PGA Museum of Golf better defines the purpose of the building, which houses a myriad of golf artifacts and remembrances that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Admission to the PGA Museum of Golf is complimentary, and Museum hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily through Easter. The new, interactive PGA.com/Museum website, dedicated solely to the PGA Museum of Golf, provides images from the Museum and videos from PGA of America competitions and PGA Past Presidents.
