Oak Hill hosted the 1995 Ryder Cup Matches and the course played very long due to cold weather and wet conditions. During the 1980 PGA Championship and the 1989 U.S. Open, the conditions were warm but also very wet. Jack Nicklaus was the only player under par in 1980 finishing with a 6-under-par 274. Curtis Strange finished 2-under-par 278 when he captured the 1989 U.S. Open. Oak Hill's main challenge is always off of the tee. It is a very difficult driving course. The fairway widths average around 23 yards with many trees just off of the landing areas. If the course plays "fast" with dry conditions the best driver of the ball will win the tournament.
What follows is a hole-by-hole walking tour of Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, site of the 85th PGA Championship with PGA Professional Craig Harmon providing the analysis.
