LONDON (AP) -- Ian Woosnam has withdrawn from this week's Nordic Open because of the death of his father, his management company said Monday.
Harold Woosnam, 74, died on July 27 and will be buried on Thursday in Wales.
He also pulled out of last week's Scandinavian Masters and will miss the United States PGA Championship, which begins Aug. 14 at Oak Hill Country Club. Woosnam had received an invitation to play in the season's final major.
Woosnam won the 1991 Masters and will attempt to make the Ryder Cup team next season, which will be captained by Bernhard Langer. He is also the leading candidate to captain the European Ryder team in 2006.
