Still as a amateur in 1991 almost won the Australian Open, only to have Wayne Riley make closing birdies at the last two holes from 30 and 40 feet to nip Allenby by one. . .His parents emigrated to Australia from Leeds, England . . .Placed third in 1996 Loch Lomond Invitational and in walking to his car twisted an ankle. . . While recuperating in Spain the next week suffered a fractured sternum and facial injuries in a car accident. At that time he was third on the European Order of Merit, but was forced to end his season. . .Member of 1994, '96 & 2000 Presidents Cup Team . . . Has a perfect 3-0 record in playoffs in the United States and 7-0 Worldwide. . . In 1992, was the leader on the Australasia Order of Merit with $309,064 (Australia $). . . Finished T-17th in the 1998 PGA Tour qualifying tournament, which got his card for 1999.
