Played on the same Louisiana State golf team with Bob Friend, Emlyn Aubrey, Perry Moss and Greg Lesher, all of whom played at one time on the PGA Tour. . .Made a 243-yard hole-in-one in the third round to grab the lead in the 2001 PGA Championship, and then held off Phil Mickelson by making a 12-foot par putt on the 72nd hole. . PGA Championship victory also gave Toms the 72-hole scoring record (265) in major championship history . . .Posted a 64 in final round of 1988 Masters, one stroke off the course record but his final nine 29 tied the Masters record for low back nine score (along with Mark Calcavecchia, who recorded his in 1992).. . Member of the 2002 Ryder Cup Team. |
