For a young man who professes a love of biographies, the Australian is writing a pretty impressive chapter in golf's history books about himself. Started by securing his European Tour card for 2001 in just eight starts as a professional, clinching his place by finishing tied sixth at the Linde German Masters. Went on to finish 13th in the Volvo Order of Merit that year and moved to seventh in 2002 thanks to storming victories in the Qatar Masters by six shots and the Diageo Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles by ten shots, which represented the biggest winning margin of the year and his winning total of 26 under par 262 was the lowest of the season. Finished third in the 2003 WGC - Accenture Match Play before getting back on the winning trail in August with victory in the Scandic Carlsberg Scandinavian Masters, a month before he claimed his maiden success on the US PGA Tour with victory in the Deutsche Bank Championship. Finished 2003 in 11th place in the Volvo Order of Merit. Success in the paid ranks did not come as a surprise as he was ranked the World's Number Two Amateur before turning professional in June 2000. Held several amateur course records including a ten under par 63 in the 2000 Greg Norman Holden International in which he finished tied 37th. Won both the Australian and New Zealand Junior titles. Coached originally by his father, Phil, a registered PGA professional, but now under the guidance of Butch Harmon...Won the Australian National Junior championship twice, the 1997 World Junior and the New Zealand Junior. Member of the 2003 Presidents Cup team.
