Player Notes

Completed a major achievement in 2003 when an incredible yield of four victories, plus 14 top ten finishes from only 27 starts saw him finish No. 1 on the PGA Tour Money List for the first time with $7,573,907, ending Tiger Woods' four-year reign at the top. It also continued a remarkable run which has seen him finish in the top five every year from 1998. The man from Fiji, whose first name means 'Victory' in Hindi, also nearly added a third major championship to his list of achievements, following his Masters success at Augusta National in 2000 and his PGA Championship win at Sahalee in 1998. In contention in the final round of the 132nd Open Championship at Royal St George's, he had to settle for a share of second place with Thomas Björn, one shot behind eventual champion Ben Curtis. A truly international golfer, he has won titles all over the globe, in England, France, Germany, Italy, Ivory Coast, Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the United States and Zimbabwe. Included in that roll of honor are 11 wins on The European Tour international schedule, the last two in 2001 in consecutive weeks - the Carlsberg Malaysian Open and the Caltex Singapore Masters - and the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth Club in 1997. Graduated from the Qualifying School in 1988 and played seven seasons on The European Tour before making his base in America. Accorded Honorary Life Membership of The European Tour in May 2001...Member of 1994, '96, '98, 2000 & 2003 Presidents Cup Team. . .Won the 2004 PGA Player of the Year and Vardon Trophy...PGA as the Player-of-the-Year in 2004.
