Was the medalist at 1998 PGA Tour qualifying tournament . .With his victory in the 2003 Masters, became the second left-hander to win a major championship, joining New Zealand's Bob Charles, who won the 1963 British Open . . At age 13, Weir wrote a letter to Jack Nicklaus seeking advise on whether he should switch to playing right-handed. Nicklaus response was to stick to being a lefty and play with his natural swing. . .Member of 2000 & 2003 Presidents Cup Team . . . Played on the Canadian Tour between 1993 & 1997. In 1997, he finished first in earnings with $80,696 (Canadian dollars). In seven events he won the BCTEL Open and the Canadian Masters.
