Player Notes

Always one of the most consistent players on Tour since gaining his card at the 1997 Qualifying School, finally achieved his maiden victory in his 158th start when he won The 2003 Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters at the Marriott Forest of Arden. But only just managed to defend his title with the help of painkilling injections as he was suffering a back injury at the time. That was his last tournament for three months, as he finally succumbed to a bulging disc and underwent surgery, returning to action at the Nissan Irish Open. Spent weeks prior to surgery sleeping on the floor. Prior to his victory, his career highlight had come in the 130th British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2001. Led the field after 35 holes then holed his second shot for a remarkable albatross at the 11th in the third round. Taught by David Ridley at Coxmoor GC. Joined management team, run by snooker promoter Barry Hearn in 1999.
