Player Notes

Won the 1999 Open de Cote D'Ivoire Open on the Challenge Tour. Also has won four mini tour events, 1995 Panshanger Classic East Region, 1996 Mizuno Assistants Championship, Hippo Tour Championship. Won the Hippo Tour Order of Merit in 1996. . .Enjoyed a strong start to his European Tour career, winning a title in each of his first two seasons. His first year culminated in winning the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award. Fought out a close contest with Alastair Forsyth for the prestigious award, but made sure of success when landing the Italian Open in Oct. 2000, ultimately finishing 31st on the Volvo Order of Merit - 15 places above Forsyth. Claimed a second Tour title six months later, capturing the 2001 Moroccan Open. Took up the game at the age of four when dad, Terry, a single figure handicapper, gave him a cut-down three wood. Older brother, Danny, is also a professional, as an assistant at Chadwell Springs, Ware, Hertfordshire. Turned professional at 19. Won the Open de C"te d'Ivoire on the Challenge Tour in 1999 but finished 30th and had to visit the Qualifying School to win his card in 23rd position. Might have had a chance of finishing in the top 15 on the Challenge Tour, but for tripping over his golf bag leaving the BIL Luxembourg Open and suffering torn ligaments and tendons in his ankle, necessitating a lengthy recuperation...Was a member of the 2004 Ryder Cup team, Poulter is one of the most recognized players on Tour thanks to his extravagant hairstyles and the way he dresses.
