Left the University of Georgia after his sophomore season. Was a first team All-American and all-SEC in 1999. Won first collegiate title at Williams Intercollegiate in 1999. Had seven Top-10 finishes during the 1998-99 collegiate season. Reached match-play in the 1998 U.S. Amateur and was a finalist at the 1997 U.S. Public Links. Won six amateur tournaments, 1995 Porter Cup, 1996 Azalea Amateur, Dixie Amateur and Lakewood Invitational, 1997 Palatka Azalea Amateur and the Southeastern Invitational. Member of the Nationwide Tour in 2000-04...Made the cut in 16 of 24 events on the 2003 Nationwide Tour. Finished the season No. 37 on the money list, with $127,861. Finished third at the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic, four shots behind champion Blaine McCallister for his best finish -of the year. Other Top-10 s came at the Monterey Peninsula Classic (T5), Oregon Classic (T6), Mark Christopher Charity Classic (T6) and the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic (T10). Was fifth on Tour in Putts Per Round (28.37)...Made the cut in eight of 20 tournaments on the 2002 Nationwide Tour. Finished No. 105 on the money list, with his best finish -a T9 at the Oregon Classic...Made the cut in 14 of 24 events in 2001, with two runner-up finishes. Posted a tournament-record 64 in the second round of the Carolina Classic and fired final-round 69 to finish two strokes back of winner John Maginnes. Finished fifth at the Richmond Open two weeks later. Was 20-under through 54 holes of the Greater Cleveland Open. Held a three-stroke lead heading into the final round but managed just an even-par 72 and wound up second, one stroke behind Heath Slocum...Enjoyed solid rookie season in 2000, making the cut in 12 of 25 events. Began the Virginia Beach Open in a T8, three strokes behind leader Roger Rowland. Moved into tie for the lead with Mike Heinen and David Berganio Jr. after second round and was one stroke behind leader Todd Demsey after 54 holes. Defeated Demsey by five strokes to become first rookie winner of the season and one of 19 first-time winners. One of seven international winners in 2000. Was T42 after a 2-under 70 in the opening round of the Louisiana Open. Rounds of 70-69-67 led to a T4 finish, the first Top-10 of his career. Week prior to his victory, finished T10 at the Richmond Open. His 29 on the back nine during third round of that tournament tied him with five others for second-best low nine in 2000...Had played in two Nationwide Tour and four PGA Tour events prior to his rookie campaign...Final-round 76 at the 2000 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament left him three strokes short of earning his TOUR card.
