An up and down 2006 season started and finished well, with a fifth place finish at the South African Airways Open at the beginning of the season and then taking eighth at the end of year Mallorca Classic, but was inconsistent in the middle. Lost out in a three-man play-off to Marcel Siem in the dunhill championship in South Africa in 2004 and came close to victory again in 2005, finishing tied second in the South African Airways Open before recording a pair of top five finishes on his way to ending the year in 45th place on the Order of Merit. Claimed his maiden title in the Italian Open at Is Molas in Sardinia in 2001, an historic achievement as he followed Thomas Levet into the winners' enclosure that year, the first time two Frenchmen had won in the same season on The European Tour International Schedule. Took up golf at the age of ten after being encouraged by his father, a Parisian vet. Formerly coached by French professional, Benoit Jucoulombier.
