Two second place finishes in the space of four weeks in the summer of 2006, at the BA-CA Golf Open presented by Telekom Austria and the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles helped him to a 34th place finish on the Order of Merit. Admitted he had been inspired to succeed by his good friend and namesake Anders Hansen?s maiden victory in the 2002 PGA Championship at Wentworth Club when he secured his first and only European Tour title to date, the 2002 Irish Open at Fota Island, where he won at the fourth extra hole in a dramatic play-off which featured Richard Bland, Niclas Fasth and Darren Fichardt. Won his first Challenge Tour title within a year of turning professional, the 1998 Navision Open Golf Championship at Himmerland in Denmark after a three way play-off, and graduated from the Challenge Tour at the end of that season. Four Top-10 s in 2005 helped him finished 36th on the Order of Merit ? one place below his namesake, Anders, a feat he repeated in 2006 with his 34th place finish.
