Captured his second European Tour title when he won the 2007 Celtic Manor Wales Open, denying home favorite Bradley Dredge the title, and brought to an end a series of near-misses since his maiden victory in the 2004 Open de Madrid. That win in Madrid, in his last event of the season, ensured he avoided a trip to the Qualifying School. Continued to make steady progress in 2005 with four Top-10 s on his way to 44th on the Order of Merit, but suffered a slight dip in 2006 when he finished 78th. Established his credentials by dominating South Africa?s amateur scene, becoming the first South African to win both the junior and senior National Stroke Play and Match Play titles. Turned professional during qualifying for The 2001 Open Championship and concentrated on the Challenge Tour in his first season, finishing rank 30th, before earning his European Tour card at the 2002 Qualifying School. Took up the game at the age of four when he went out with his grandmother to play one day. Comes from a sporting family with his father involved in motor racing, his mother an ice-skater and sister, Farrah, one of the top squash players in South Africa.
