Got his start in golf at age 3 when grandfather gave him a set of clubs. One of five siblings. Lists biggest thrill in golf as qualifying for two U.S. Opens (2002 and 2006). Member of the Golden Bear Tour in 2004. All-ACC and All-American selection at Florida State (1997-98) and turned professional in 1998. Lists heroes as Cal Ripken Jr., Mike Schmidt and Bo Jackson. He was an all-conference baseball selection as a high school sophomore. McNeill has had some success on various mini-tours, winning $10,000, for instance, in the 2002 Beck's Open at Fort Myers Country Club and $25,000 at the Waterloo Open in Iowa in 2001. After taking a club professional job in November, though - at Shadow Wood Country Club in Bonita Springs and more recently at The Forest Country Club in Fort Myers - McNeill recently decided to return to tournament golf. Rookie on the PGA TOUR in 2007 earned medalist honors at 2006 Qualifying Tournament. Five-stroke margin (23-under-par total) was largest since Scott Verplank topped Blaine McCallister by six in 1997. Earned first card in ninth trip to Qualifying Tournament, including second visit to the finals (2002). One of eight players to successfully negotiate all three stages.

No play in 2005, in 2006 he spent 2006 as an assistant professional at Forest Country Club in Fort Myers, FLA. missed cut in U.S. Open, on the Nationwide Tour T53rd Price Cutter Charity Championship and missed cut Oregon Classic. Finished year as the medalist at the Q-school.
After winning PGA Tour Qualifying medalist honors in 2006, earned first PGA Tour win at the Frys.com Open, him and Brandt Snedeker only two rookies to win on Tour in 2007.
