Secured his European Tour card for 2001 in just eight starts as a professional, clinching his place by finishing tied sixth at the Linde German Masters. Went on to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship that year and finish 13th in the Order of Merit that year. Went on to win twice in Europe in 2002 and in 2003 scored his first PGA Tour win at the Deutsche Bank Championship. . .Success in the paid rank s did not come as a surprise as he was rank the world's number two amateur before turning professional in June 2000 a month before he turned 20. Won both the Australian and New Zealand Junior titles. Coached originally by his father, Phil, a registered PGA professional, but now under the guidance of Butch Harmon. . .Member of the 2003, '05 and '07 Presidents Cup Team.
