Player Notes

Saved his best performance of 2008 until the last event when he finished tied second at the Volvo Masters en route to finishing 22nd in the Order of Merit. Consolidated his reputation as on one of the most consistent performers on the European Tour with 11 top 20 finishes, including four in a row as he finished the season strongly. Has finished in the top 90 on the Order of Merit for 11 consecutive seasons since he graduated to the European Tour through the 1997 Qualifying School. His maiden title victory came in 2000 when he won the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa but his best year since then came in 2006 when he earned three second places, including one at the Smurfit Kappa European Open which earned him an exempt spot into the 135th Open Championship. Made the most of the opportunity with an assured performance at Hoylake, eventually finishing as the leading British golfer in a share of 11th. Represented England at Boys and Youths level before turning professional in 1995. As a 15 year old junior member at Sunningdale, he used to practice with Nick Faldo. Captured Sunningdale Foursomes as an amateur in 1994 with Steve Webster, now a colleague on the European Tour. Lifelong Queens Park Rangers fan.
