Started playing at the age of four with the encouragement of his golf-loving family. The family interest in the sport is maintained by cousin Nicolas Beaufils who has played on the Challenge Tour, while another cousin has represented France in equestrianism. Narrowly missed out on keeping his card at the end of the 2005 season but did well enough in his 20 starts in 2006 to retain his playing privileges by right, finishing 102nd on the Order of Merit. Enjoys going to the cinema and watching all sports, as well as playing tennis, badminton and squash. Coached by Olivier Leglise near Biarritz.
Won his maiden European Tour title with an impressive victory at the 2007 Mallorca Classic, becoming the 18th first time winner of the season - setting a new European Tour record. He was the ninth Frenchman to win a European Tour event and his victory at Pula Golf Club was greeted with the traditional dousing of champagne from his countrymen. Followed that with a second title in the 2008 Estoril Open de Portugal, a second successive French victory following Thomas Levet a week earlier.
