Crowned Europe's No. 1 after a phenomenal 2010 season, during which he won four European Tour titles, including his first major at the PGA Championship. Earned nearly €4.5million in prize money over the season, beating the record Lee Westwood set the previous year, with wins coming at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, the KLM Open and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, as well as his memorable victory at Whistling Straits. Only the second German after Bernhard Langer to be European No. 1. Was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 2007 and then won the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on his first appearance of the 2008 season. Added a win in his homeland at the BMW International Open and continued his improvement in 2009 with back-to-back wins at the Open de France ALSTOM and Barclays Scottish Open. His season was halted by a broken foot sustained in a go-kart accident, and after two months out he had to settle for third place in The Race to Dubai.
