The trend towards the "comfort shoe" in golf disturbs me just a little. And yes, I own a few pairs of the new style overwhelming the market and wear them more often than not when playing. They feel great. My concern isn't the functionality or the design. It's the shirt. Wait, what? The more casual appearance of the new shoes foretell of a time when tee shirts or tank tops may become acceptable apparel choices. Ridiculous concern? Probably. But one I have nonetheless. Nobody has desginated me the guardian of golf traditions and I like to think I'm a bit more forward thinking than the average golf guy. But the "look" of a golfer has always had an appeal - classy, refined, clean. I just hope that doesn't change as styles get a bit more avant garde.
