Former PGA Teacher of the Year Malaska anxious to challenge himself 
Mike Malaska of Mesa, Ariz., the 2011 national PGA Teacher of the Year, is making his fourth appearance in the Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship, and is relishing the opportunity. The 59-year-old, who prides himself on staying fit, wants to earn the respect of his students as someone who practices what he preaches on the lesson tee.

An elite field of 264 PGA Professionals, at least 50 years of age, will converge for the silver anniversary of the Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship presented by Mercedes-Benz USA. The 2013 field features 10 past champions, while seven players own a PGA Professional National Championship title and seven contestants are past PGA Assistant Champions.
Mark Mielke made his first appearance in the Senior PGA Championship last May an unforgettable one, as he overcame a triple bogey to share Low PGA Club Professionals honors. Now the the 51-year-old PGA head professional at Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, N.Y., turns his attention to the silver anniversary of the Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship, where he feels like he has a grest chance to excel again.
Frank Esposito, the PGA head professional at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, N.J., captured the New Jersey PGA Section Championship in September, the New Jersey State Open and New Jersey Senior PGA Championship in July. The last of those victories was extra special, because it qualified him for his first Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship.
For the third consecutive year, Creighton Farms in Aldie, Va., will host the Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship. This year’s edition is special to Scott McArthur, though, who is omw the PGA head professional there after serving as PGA assistant professional for most of the last five years.
