Webb Simpson wanted to give his caddie something good to see on television. He delivered a 5-under 68 that gave Simpson a three-way tie for the lead with Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth going into the final round of the Tournament of Champions.
Simpson said he played with a heavy heart Sunday upon learning the newborn son of his caddie, Paul Tesori, was inintensive care . He says players and caddies are sending along their best to Tesori, and that Simpson rarely went a hole without thinking about him. But he played some good golf on a beautiful day, getting into the mix of a wild tournament.
Johnson and Spieth each had a 69 to join Simpson at 14-under 205.
Zach Johnson stumbled to a 74 and was two back.
