Bob has an extensive background in the golf industry, beginning as an assistant golf course superintendent at the high end private Birmingham Country Club in Michigan following completion of the Turfgrass Management Program at Michigan State University. In 1985 he joined the staff at the TPC at The Woodlands in Texas, a high end resort and public course that was the home of the PGA Tour's Houston Open for 20 years, as well as the LPGA's Samsung Open one year. In 2002 the course became a private part of The Woodlands Country Club and eventually became known as the Tournament Course. His job title progressed at The Woodlands from Assistant Professional to Head Golf Professional to General Manager. While at The Woodlands he was part of the staff that was awarded "Top 100" retail shop status three times and was the club pro of the national winning team of the Oldsmobile Scramble in 1989. In August of 2008 he made the move to Director of Golf at La Torretta Del Lago Resort & Spa in Montgomery, Texas. The position offers an opportunity to be part of an operation from the beginning as the course was completely renovated and re-designed by new ownership as is part of a unique resort offering a huge variety of amenities, including golf, spa, fitness, racquetball, tennis, miniature golf, water sports, marina, aqua park and at least 10 restaurant outlets to go with the 435 rooms and full service convention center.
