David Windsor is an award-winning PGA of America Teaching Professional with over 20 years experience. He is considered one of the country’s foremost experts in teaching the physically challenged, or Adaptive golfers as we say. A multiple recipient of his Southwest FL PGA "Teacher of the Year" award, David was voted as North Florida Section PGA "Teacher of the Year," in 2008. Since 1999, David has developed and instructed multiple adaptive golf classes on a weekly basis, for physically challenged juniors, adults and disabled Veterans. With this extensive program experience and knowledge of these processes, David founded the Adaptive Golf Academy in 2006 (www.AdaptiveGolfAcademy.com), to provide an education platform with an Adaptive Golf Coach training workshop for more continuity, safety and effectiveness in all programs.
Seeing the need for "Adaptive Golf" to be utilized with our injured and disabled Veterans, David founded the Tampa Veterans Hospital Adaptive Golf Program in 2007, an annual weekly program where he continues to provide on-going training and resources to VA staff, volunteer coaches and participants. In 2010, on September 11th, (the most symbolic day of modern times), David visited Fort Bragg Army Base, N.C., to train coaches of the Operation Warrior Golf organization and assist in launching a golf program for the Wounded Battalion Unit and their families. An honorary member of the Amputee Veterans of America Support Team (AVAST-Tampa), David received the North Florida Section PGA "Patriot Award" in 2011, (and a finalist for National award) for his Patriotic contributions and dedication to the military generations from WWII to Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts on a weekly basis.
