I have acquired General Manager and Golf Professional experience at private, resort and high-end daily fee properties throughout Southern California and the Caribbean since 1991. Professional experience includes General Manager of La Cañada Flintridge CC, Marbella G&CC, Riverwalk GC, and Palmas del Mar Country Club (Puerto Rico); Head Golf Professional at The Crosby Club at Rancho Santa Fe, Palmas del Mar CC, Lost Canyons GC, and Assistant Golf Professional & Tournament Director positions at Sherwood CC, Oak Creek GC, and Pelican Hill GC. I was very fortunate to be a member of the "opening team" of golf professionals at Pelican Hill Golf Club (1991), Oak Creek Golf Club (1996) and Lost Canyons Golf Club (2000). My experience includes involvement with 4 PGA Tour Events at Sherwood Country Club, including the "Showdown at Sherwood," the first Prime Time match between Tiger Woods and David Duval, and 3 Franklin Templeton Shark Shootouts (1997-1999). I believe in the traditional role of the PGA Professional as not only the leader for a property's golf program, but also promoting participation in all activities at the club. I have been a successful leader of all aspects of a golf club, including customer service, tournaments, instruction, food and beverage operations, club member relations, and merchandising to provide a memorable experience for my club members and customers every day. My advice to apprentices is to approach each day as an audition for your next position.  Because of economic conditions, changes in salaried employee standards, and strategies applied by some management companies, assistant professionals have unfortunately become treated, trained, and paid to be clerks and cashiers. The person that will succeed in today's climate must have their focus on long term goals in order to become a true PGA Professional.
