Shinichi Yokata's final round of 67 saw the 38-year-old edge out Ryo Ishikawa to win the Canon Open by two shots at Totsuka Country Club. Yokata collected an eagle, four birdies and a bogey to pull clear of fellow overnight co-leaders Ishikawa and Hideto Tanihara and finish on 14 under par to take the title on the Japan PGA Tour. Ishikawa made a late charge with five birdies in the final six holes, but his 3-under 69 was not enough to overhaul Yokata and the 19-year-old had to settle for second place. Takashi Kanemoto and Kazuhiko Hosokawa finished tied for third on 11 under after both carded impressive 66s, but Tanihara could manage only a tie for 21st after a final round of 76 put paid to his chances.
