This is known as one of the most memorable starting holes in championship golf. It plays long and uphill, however, the fairway is very generous with no fairway bunkers on the tee shot. It is a slight dogleg left that requires a long tee shot along the right side of the fairway. If successful, a players middle- to long-iron second shot remains into a two-tier, right-to-left angled green. If the hole location is on the lower tier, a putt from the upper level may roll right off the green. Players should always add one club to the yardage, as coming up short tends to be the rule of the day. The only fairway bunker is located 80 yards from the green and does not come into play unless the player drives into the thick rough. If thats the case, a lay-up shot may be necessary. A par 4 here is always a welcome start.
