NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- The PGA of America has closed the course at Aronimink Golf Club to spectators Wednesday after more than two inches of rain fell on the course in the past 24 hours, tournament officials have announced. Aronimink is hosting the 64th Senior PGA Championship this week.

No practice rounds will be played Wednesday as course workers prepare the course for the tournament, which is scheduled to begin on time Thursday morning.

However, the practice range and the putting green are open Wednesday to contestants, as are the Champions Club and Corporate Hospitality areas on site. Fans can come to the practice range and putting green, but are not allowed on the golf course itself, officials said.

Spectator tickets to Wednesday's practice round will be honored for the opening round on Thursday, tournament officials said.

Fans coming to Aronimink Wednesday are encouraged to use the SAP America Parking Lot (Lot V) off of Route 252.
