Winner of the 1996 Belfry PGA Seniors Championship soon after turning 50 years of age, defeating Tommy Horton by one stroke. Took six years before he won again at the 2002 Gin Monte Carlo Invitational and he repeated that success when he also claimed both the Royal Westmoreland Barbados Open and the Tobago Plantations Seniors Classic at the start of the 2003 season. Prior to turning 50, Terry won almost 20 titles on the Australasian Tour and eight times in the Far East. A model of consistency, he did not drop out of the top-ten on the Australasian Tour Order of Merit between 1980 and 1986. He was selected as just the second Chairman of the PGA Tour of Australasia, overseeing the Tour during a time of massive change. Terry was inducted as a Life Member of his home Tour in 1997, following such notables as Ted Ball, Bill Dunk, Kel Nagle, Greg Norman and Peter Thomson. An excellent all-round sportsman, he represented Western Australia at cricket. Terry also competes on the Japanese Seniors Tour, finishing fourth in one of its events last autumn. . . .Enjoyed an outstanding amateur career, winning the 1974 Australian Championship, and four Western Australian Amateur (1969, '72, '74, '75) and Western Australia Open (1972, '75, '80, '90) Open titles. . .Turned professional at age 30. . .Has won more than 20 titles through Australasia, Asia and Europe. |
