Twenty month younger than his brother, Lanny Wadkins. . .Was a two-time All-American. . .Competed on the PGA Tour between 1975 and 1998, in 712 starts was runner-up six times and finished in the top-ten, 50 times. . .Winner 1971 Virginia State Amateur, 1978 European Open, 1979 and '86 Dunlop Phoenix (Japan). PGA Tour best finish 2nd (1979 IVB Philadelphia Classic, lost playoff to Lou Graham and 1985 Sea Pines Heritage Classic, lost playoff to Bernhard Langer). . .Joined the Champions Tour after his 50th birthday in August of 2001 and won his first start at the Lightpath Long Island Open. He won it at the age of 50 years, 10 days old and can claim to be the youngest Champions Tour player to win by one day over Gil Morgan. |
