Valhalla Golf Club has a front nine that is links-style, while its back nine is more traditional. The signature hole is #13, a 350-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot to a small landing area, then an approach shot over water to an island green.
"Golf Digest" rated this as the "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998, and also rated it 51st best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 61st in 1997-98. In addition, "GOLFWEEK" chose it 40th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 63rd for 1998 and 52nd for 1999. The PGA Championship was held here in 1996. The 6,345-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 75.2 and slope of 135.
