Competed for 30 years on the PGA Tour, before joining the Champions Tour in 1995. Has won 20 times on the PGA Tour in his three decades of golf. The list includes three U.S. Opens (1974, '79 and '90), the 1971 and '73 Heritage Classic, 1975 Western Open, 1983 Memorial Tournament and the 1984 Bing Crosby Pro-am. His victories have come on the more difficult courses in the world, such as Winged Foot, Inverness, Harbour Town, Butler National, Riviera, Pinehurst No. 2, Muirfield Village and Pebble Beach. He has played on five Ryder Cup Teams (1975, '77, '79, '81 and '91). . . He has won more money on the PGA and Champions Tours than anyone - except Tiger Woods. |
