Turned professional on his 50th birthday after having one of the finest amateur careers since Bobby Jones. Won the 1982 and '83 U.S. Amateur, 1980 British Amateur, 1975, '81 and '87 Porter Cup, 1983, '85 and '87 Mid-Amateurs. He was also a member of the 1977, '79, '81, '83, '85, '87, '89 '91 and '93 Walker Cup Team. Served as the playing captain in 1983 and '85 Walker Cup. Holds the record for the most appearances and total points in the Walker Cup. Also played on seven American teams in the World Amateur team and was low amateur in the 1981, '82 and '88 Masters. Was also low amateur in the 1984 U.S. Open and 1980 British Open... Is Senior vice president of Century Business Services. |
