Player Notes

Turned in a blistering finish at the 2003 Qualifying School where he closed with rounds of 66 and 67 to claim the eighth and last full card. As a youngster, he was something of an all-round athlete. He was a champion swimmer, boxer and rugby league player before an injury forced him to concentrate on golf. He won the North Queensland title in 1972, and was runner up in the 1969 Australian Boys Championship before turning professional in 1973 and going on to win 16 professional titles. Ferguson appears in the Australian edition of the Guinness Book of Records having teamed up with fellow Seniors Tour member, Simon Owen, to play the fastest round in a major Australian tournament while still scoring par or better. They took just one hour 56 minutes to achieve the feat at the 1985 Australian Masters at Huntingdale GC, Melbourne. His brother-in-law was the late Payne Stewart.
