Got started playing golf as a nine-year-old at a nine-hole course in his hometown of Colusa, CA. He and his brothers had been avid tennis players at the club but after participating in a putting contest for kids at the club, became interested in the game and spent the next few years picking up golf balls on the range and learning the game. . . .Played on the PGA Tour between 1978 and 1991. Best finish in 414 starts was 2nd in 1978 Bell Canadian Open, 1982 Quad Cities Open and 1986 USF&G Classic. He finished in the top-ten, 21 times and earned $919,297. Most recently has worked with his mother-in-law, Peggy Kirk Bell, and family as a golf instructor at Pine Needles Lodge and GC in Southern Pines, N.C. . . Earned the seventh and final fully-exempt spot for 2005 after finishing seventh at the Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament at the King and Bear at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.
