Began his golf career by playing for his high school golf team. Worked as a sales manager for an appliance distributor before turning professional. . . Turned professional in 1971 and made four unsuccessful attempts to earn his PGA Tour card in the 70s before regaining amateur status until he turned pro again in 1994. . . Winner, 1997 European PGA Seniors Championship at The Belfry; three Senior Series events; 1996 Hooters Tour event at Peachtree City, Ga.; 1985 Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship. . . Competed in 1991 U.S. Amateur, advancing to the third round of match play.
