Turned 50 in July 2001 and has since made a huge impact on the European Seniors Tour. Posted three top ten finishes in only five starts on the 2001 Tour and then cemented his playing privileges by finishing fourth at the subsequent Seniors Tour Qualifying School at Pestana Golf Resort. His 2002 season started in fine fashion when he finished second in his first start at the Tobago Plantations Seniors Classic and he was to go on to post six further top ten finishes on his way to finishing eighth on the Order of Merit. Last season, his progress continued, winning his first Seniors Tour title at the Travis Perkins Senior Masters, accumulating no less than 11 top ten finishes and finishing fourth on the Seniors Tour Order of Merit. Turned professional in 1971 after representing Scotland at Boys level and subsequently went on to become one of the Tartan Tour's most accomplished performers. He represented Great Britain and Ireland in five PGA Cups between 1982 and 1992 and in 2001 achieved arguably his most impressive feat to date, winning the Scottish Professional Championship for a second time, 25 years after he first won it in 1976. One of the country's top coaches, working both with individuals and as the coach for the hugely successful Stirling University golf team. At the start of last year he retired as club professional at Glenbervie GC, to concentrate on his career on the European Seniors Tour.
