Played in three TOUR events in 2004, with one made cut--T68 at the Bank of America Colonial. Also played five Nationwide Tour events, with a best finish of T19 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Career has been sidetracked by numerous injuries, necessitating surgeries on back (1989), both knees (1994) and neck (1995). Despite setbacks has two TOUR victories, the 1986 Colonial Invitational and NEC World Series of Golf. Finished fifth on TOUR money list in 1986, with $463,630. Winner of the 1987 Vardon Trophy and Epson Stats All-Around title. Member of U.S. Ryder Cup squad in 1987. Led the PGA TOUR in Driving Distance in 1980-81. Lost playoff to Craig Stadler in 1982 Masters. Michigan State Amateur champion in 1975 and 1977. Named to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in May 2004. Has been involved in course design work, including the PohlCat Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Played on the PGA Tour between 1978 and 1998 playing in 439 events. On top of his two wins, finished in the top-ten, 72 times.
