Will divide his time between Europe and America in 2006 after winning the sixth fully exempt card at the US Champions Tour Qualifying School in California. Finished the 2005 European Seniors Tour season with a flourish when he closed with a brilliant seven under par 64 to win the inaugural Scandinavian Senior Open at Royal Copenhagen Golf Club, a result which helped him finish tenth on the Order of Merit. In 2004, he claimed The Mobile Cup and was especially overjoyed to triumph in the Charles Church Scottish Seniors Open at The Roxburghe, where his 13 year old son Callum caddied for him. He has lived in Essex all his life but was raised by Glaswegian parents and says he is a true blue Scot so was delighted to win in Kelso. In preparation for joining the Seniors Tour he spent most of the winter of 2002 practicing at Greg Norman's home in Florida and all the hard work paid off as he finished second on the Order of Merit in his maiden season. The Scot won for the first time in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open at Royal St David's. One month later he lifted the De Vere PGA Seniors Championship at De Vere Carden Park. A regular on The European Tour for 16 years between 1976 and 1992 without winning a European Tour title but he did come close on several occasions. The Scot first hit the headlines in 1978 when he finished tied third at the Belgian Open but it was in 1982 he enjoyed his best season by finishing runner-up in both the Lufthansa German Open and the Ebel Swiss Open. The following season Longmuir captured the Ivory Coast Open title on the Safari Tour and went on to record a third second place finish on The European Tour at the 1990 AGF Open.
