Got started in the game as an 11-year-old by his mother who thought the nearby nine-hole golf course would be a great babysitter for him and his brother, David, a former Champions Tour player...Calls his 2004 Senior British Open victory his biggest thrill in golf...Serves as the Director of Golf at The Rookery in Delaware, a daily fee course where he is a managing partner. Captured his first national title in 1999, winning the PGA Senior Club Professional Championship by three strokes, was runner-up in 2000 Championship and tied for 15th in 2001. . . Was a member of the 1994 PGA Cup Team that triumphed at PGA National Golf Club's Champion Course over Europe, 15-11. . . Winner, 2000 PGA Senior Stroke Play Championship. . . Younger brother of David Oakley, a member of the PGA European Seniors Tour. . . Winner, 1980, '82, '86, '90, '95 Delaware State Open , 1989, '90 Philadelphia Open, four events on the PGA Tournament Series. . . Competed in 1975, '80, '83 U.S. Open, 1983, '86, '87, '94, '95, '97 PGA Championship. . . Winner, 1980, '84 Philadelphia PGA Player of the Year. Joins his elder brother, David, on the European Seniors Tour after claiming the fourth card at the Qualifying School Finals. He arrives in Europe with the reputation as being one of his country's finest senior club professional players. He is a multiple winner of the Delaware Open but his finest moment came back in 1999 when, on his first appearance in the Championship, he won the 13th PGA Senior Club Professional Championship at the Ibis Golf & Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. On that occasion, he opened his final round with a double bogey but recovered to post a two under par 70 to finish three shots ahead of Ed Sabo and Bob Hauer. Represented America in the 1994 PGA Cup at PGA National Golf Club, West Palm Beach, Florida, where he defeated England's John Harrison 6 and 5 in the singles.
