Renner played full-time on the PGA Tour between 1977- 1988. After that was a part-time player. Played in 354 times, won three times and finished in the Top-10 53 times. Pretty much gave up the game in the late 90s as he managed his investment business in San Diego. Was always known for his outstanding short game, which he honed as a youth by playing numerous par-3 courses. . . Chose not to play high school golf because he felt he could progress more rapidly by working on his own game rather than spending time traveling to matches. . . Came from a family of avid golfers, with a sister, Jane, who played the LPGA and a younger brother, Jim, who was also a professional.
