Exceeded own expectations when he collected his maiden European Seniors Tour title on only his seventh start, closing with a five under par 65 to win the 2006 Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open by two strokes. Aided by the altitude of the Alps the Spaniard a produced the lowest 18 hole score of the year with a nine under par second round 61 en route to a winning 54 hole total of 14 under par 196. Admits he started 2006 with the aim of keeping his card, having suffered from a bad back towards the end of the previous year, but finished up sixth on the Order of Merit after a series of fine performances that included a share of second place at the FIRSTPLUS Wales Seniors Open. Took sixth place at The 1984 European Tour Qualifying School and members at his club bought shares in him to allow him to play full time on The European Tour, where his best finish -was tied second in 1994 Turespana Open de Tenerife. Played on the European Tour between 1983 and 2000, in 193 starts finished in the Top-10 eight times, best finish -T2nd in 1994 Turespana Open De Canarias.
