Guillermo joined Brazil's Priscillo Diniz as the second South American Member of the European Seniors Tour when he finished tied for second place at the 2001 Qualifying School at Pinta. The Chilean golfer was introduced to golf thorough his father, the greenskeeper at the Papudo club in Chile, and soon developed into one of his country's finest players. He has won numerous events within his home country, several more elsewhere on the South American circuit and has represented Chile in five World Cups. Elsewhere, Guillermo also played for two years on the Asian Tour in 1992 and 1993 and on the Canadian Tour in 1996. Converted his undoubted talent into victory when he carded a 6-under-par 66 to come from two off the lead at the 2006 Irvine Whitlock Seniors Classic in Jersey. It was particularly rewarding as it came a week after a disappointing defeat in a playoff. The Chilean needed only to par the last hole to win the AIB Irish Seniors Open title but conspired to hit his ball into the water on the last and then lose out to Sam Torrance in extra holes. Put that behind him with a brilliant final round in Jersey and went on to finish the year 11th on the Order of Merit – his second highest placing since first gaining a card at the 2001 Qualifying School. During 2003 broke The European Tour record for the longest hole-in-one when he holed his drive at the 354 yard par four 11th hole during the second round of the Tunisian Seniors Open at El Kantaoui. One of the fittest members of the Seniors Tour and can often be seen jogging before or after a tournament round.
