Player Notes

Ended a three year wait for his third PGA European Seniors Tour title when he beat Glenn Ralph in a play-off for the Scandinavian Senior Masters at Royal Copenhagen GC in Denmark. Ensured himself there would be no repeat of 2006, when he narrowly missed out on retaining his full playing privileges after finishing one place outside the top 30 on the 2006 Order of Merit. Came close to retaining the Arcapita Seniors Tour Championship when he finished second to Ireland's Des Smyth at Riffa Golf Club in Bahrain. It capped a welcome return to form for the Scotsman, who had struggled with his swing during the middle part of 2005. He still managed to claim seven Top-10s and seventh place on the Order of Merit. In 2004, he finished runner-up on five occasions before claiming a deserved victory at the season-ending Seniors Tour Championship. Success in Portugal allowed him to finish in third place on the Order of Merit and earned him a place in the UBS Cup Team. Turned 50 in July 2001 and won his first Seniors Tour title at the Travis Perkins Senior Masters two years later. Represented Scotland at Boys level and subsequently became one of the Tartan Tour's most accomplished performers. Played for Great Britain and Ireland in five PGA Cups between 1982 and 1992. In 2001, he achieved one of his most impressive feats, winning the Scottish Professional Championship for a second time, 25 years after he first won it in 1976. Before embarking on his Seniors career, he was one of Scotland's top coaches and still retains a consultancy position to the Stirling University golf scholarship program.
