2008 Season Highlights

Managed to scatter six top-25 showings over his 20 appearances...Best effort came in his first official start of the year. Used a final-round 70 to move up 19 spots into a T4 at the Turtle Bay Championship. Despite relentless tradewinds Sunday in Hawaii, played his last 13 holes in 3-under to shoot 70, equaling the low round of the day (Jerry Pate). Performance on Oahu's North Shore was his best on TOUR since winning the 1990 PGA Championship...Was also T11 at both the AT&T Champions Classic in California and the Bank of America Championship near Boston...Successfully defended his Australian Senior Open title in November, defeating David Merriman by two strokes.

Career Highlights

2007: Became eligible for the Champions Tour through the PGA TOUR Career Victory List in late July at the Senior British Open but missed the cut at Muirfield in his debut on the circuit...Battled through an assortment of physical ailments during the remainder of the year...Best effort was a T22 at the Boeing Classic near Seattle, thanks to a final-round 68...Won the Australian Senior Open Championship at Concord near the end of the year in a strange fashion. Claimed the title by one stroke over David Merriman after Merriman was assessed a two-stroke penalty after play had been completed. It was discovered that Merriman's caddie had raked a bunker prior to his shot from a different spot in the sand.
