2008 Season Highlights

Limited his Champions Tour schedule to just nine events as he split his time between the U.S. Tour as well as the European Seniors Tour, where he led the Order of Merit in 14 starts, earning €320,120...Made debut on the Champions Tour at The Ginn Championship at Hammock Beach in late March and finished T51 in Palm Coast...Played the week prior on the European Seniors Tour and was fifth at the DMB Barbados Open in his debut on that circuit...Best showing on U.S. soil came in May when he was T16 at the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill in Rochester, NY...Captured his first stroke-play title in more than a decade when he defeated Spain's Domingo Hospital by one stroke at the European Seniors Tour Parkridge Polish Seniors Championship in Krakow in early June. Posted 10 birdies en route to a final-round 63, breaking the course record at Krakow Valley G&CC. It was the Welshman's first stroke-play victory since the Volvo PGA Championship in 1997...Added a second title on the European Seniors Tour when he secured a three-shot victory over Paraguay's Angel Franco at the Pestovo Russian Seniors Open at Pestovo Golf and Yacht Club near Moscow in July...Had three other runner-up finishes to his credit in Europe, including at the Casa Serena Open in September, an event won by Bernhard Langer...Along with Sandy Lyle, was one of just two Champions Tour players to make the cut at the Masters, his first made cut at that event since 2000. Started with rounds of 75-71 at Augusta National and then posted scores of 76-78 on the weekend to finish 44th...Teamed with Lyle to finish third in the Legends Division at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf. Team posted a 12-under-par 60 in Sunday's final round.


Both parents are Welsh, and he learned the game on the local Llanmynech course (15 holes in Wales, three in England) on the border...Worked on family farm for six months after leaving school. Credits his stocky but powerful physique to lifting heavy hay bales...Used to travel in a camper van and eat tins of beans to save money when he was an aspiring pro...Lives in Jersey, Channel Islands.
