Player Notes

Played on the Japan Golf Tour between 1988 and 1995, and again from 2001 to this year. Murota's first Japan Golf Tour victory was Bridgestone Aso Open in 1991, he went on to win 13 times on that tour. He has also participated in the seven PGA TOUR events (1993, '94, '95, '96) with his best finish - coming in 1994 with a T20 finish at Nissan Los Angeles Open. After an absence of nine years Murota played in the U.S. again appearing at Turtle Bay Championship on Champions Tour and this became his best finish - with a T17 finish in this country. He made his debut on the Seniors Tour in Fancl Classic on the PGA of Japan Seniors Tour in 2005 and ended up T15. Earned the first Seniors Tour victory on his second senior tournament, Japan PGA Senior Championship. This was his first Japan "major" title throughout his career. Murota became the Japan Senior Tour money leader in 2006 with ¥42,700,000 yen. Won Aderans Wellness Open and Fancl Classic and never finished out of top 3 in other four tournaments in the 2006 Senior Tour. Murota became the Japan Senior Tour money leader in 2007 with ¥38,400,000 yen. (two consecutive years) ... Winner, Fancl Classic and finished 2nd in Aderans Wellness Open, Komatsu Open and Japan Senior Open Golf Championship ... Has made nine holes-in-one in his career. Since joining the senior ranks in 2005, Murota has won the Senior Tour money title the past two years ... Finished fourth on the 2008 Senior Tour Order of Merit and finished second in the PGA Senior Open.
