BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - Although all public volunteer positions for the 2012 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid have been filled, 100 Scholarship Volunteer positions are available through the Consortium for Community Development.
"One of the overriding objectives of the Consortium for Community Development's participation in the Senior PGA Championship is not only to support such a world-class undertaking, but use the opportunity to bring diverse residents together to meet other volunteers from the community and region," said President and CEO Marcus Robinson. "We want to reassure as many local residents that want to participate in the event have the opportunity to do so. Thanks to the generosity of Whirlpool Corporation Community Relations, we are able to make scholarships available to cover the volunteer fee."
Residents of the host communities are eligible if they are currently participants in or sponsored by a Consortium for Community Development partner agency assistance program. Partner agencies of the Consortium for Community Development include the following: Heartland Alliance-The Opportunity Center, Berrien County Health Department, United Way of Southwest Michigan, Band of Brethren in Christ, Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor, First Tee, Michigan Works!, Harbor Habitat for Humanity, Department of Human Services, and Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency.
Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. Scholarships are limited to 100 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
