Made the cut in 44 of them, he had two top-ten finishes the best being a T6th at the 1981 Memphis St. Jude Classic. Also participated in three majors An accomplished player since childhood, David has an astonishing 26 career hole-in-ones. including 15 in competition. He had eight aces by age 15. His playing career began with a North Carolina State Championship in High School. He continued the success at Wake Forest, joining future Tour Players Curtis Strange & Jay Haas to claim a NCAA National Championship in the mid '70's. David graduated to the PGA Tour where he was a member for eight years, playing in six majors including four U.S. Open's. Since leaving the Tour, David has been a perennial challenge for the Carolina's Section Player of the Year honor, which he claimed in 1987. His section tournament victories include the Carolina's Open (twice), Carolina's PGA Sectional Championship (twice) and the North Carolina Open.
