A three-time winner on The European Tour, becomes eligible for the Senior Tour upon turning 50 in March 2012. Will always be remembered for securing victory in The 1995 Ryder Cup at Oak Hill. Playing Jay Haas in the penultimate singles, he held his nerve to two putt the final green for the crucial win. Grew up on the links at Malahide just north of Dublin then spent three years
at Oklahoma University. Collected three points out of four in 1981 and 1983 Walker Cups before turning professional. Made the top 100 on the Money List every year from 1983 to 1998. Enjoyed his best year in 1995, winning the Open de Catalonia Turespaña Series and the English Open en route to finishing 13th on the Money List. His maiden European Tour victory came five years previously, in the 1990 Open de France.
Played in his first European Senior tour event at Mallorca Open Senior last week finishing T22nd.
